BLD.........

Poor BLD...he just can't catch a break (no pun intended)........Last week he went to the doc and we were expecting good news. After 12 weeks we thought the apparatus would come off and we would start rehabbing that leg. Instead, he had to have another painful operation. His bone never regenerated and the break was the same as it had been in the beginning. The next option was a bone graft.......taking bone from somewhere else and placing it against the breaks in hope of regenerating it. We won't know for at least five weeks , if the X-rays show nothing the next step is amputation. He still has the apparatus, and has had many incisions to place the bone. Please keep our baby in your hearts........this has been a hard time for him, our director and me. I will say he has gone through both these operations as if nothing had happened, pain mads help, but I hate to see a dog suffering. I believe that there is a place of suffering for the individual that did this.......hopefully their karma will catch up with them soon.......

Please help if you can......www.huskyhaven.org. I appreciate all of you that have helped him......but we still need you to be there....Thanks........

    1. @ Anonymous: Funny you say those comments with an anonymous name. For all we know you could be the person responsible for this tragedy.

You obviously never had a pet that you connected with. A dog may be just another animal to you, but to most people, dogs are part of the family. If BLD was mine, I would be doing the exact same thing. I applaud Husky Haven for going that extra mile to give BLD a fighting chance at a good life and to find a forever home.

  4. Anonymous, you are what is wrong with the world today.

Husky Haven, continue this journey with this sweet baby. I've had rescue dogs all of my life and they always know what you have done for them. They have always shown their appreciation and love with all they have.

I rescued my childhood dog when she was just 4 weeks old. Last month, after 17 fun and love filled years, she went to Heaven. My girl was there for me through everything! She instinctively knew to take care of me, even if it was to just sit and let me talk to her. I miss my girl and even though I've got two dogs of my own now, there is a hole in my heart that will never be filled by another pup. Even though it hurts to no longer have her, I celebrate the 17 years I was blessed to be her family.

Continue this journey with him so that he can fill someone's heart with the kind of unconditional love that only he can give - no matter how many legs he has! I cannot wait to find out what this sweet baby's name will be!

  5. Heard this story once and thought it fit... :o)

    I Want That One

I heard a story once about a farmer who had some puppies for sale. He made a sign advertising the pups and nailed it to a post on the edge of his yard. As he was nailing the sign to the post, he felt a tug on his overalls. he looked down to see a little boy with a big grin and something in his hand.

"Mister," he said, "I want to buy one of your puppies."

"Well,"said the farmer, "these puppies come from fine parents and cost a good deal."

The boy dropped his head for a moment, then looked back up at the farmer and said, "I've got thirty-nine cents. Is that enough to take a look?"

"Sure," said the farmer, and with that he whistled and called out, "Dolly. Here, Dolly." Out from the doghouse and down the ramp ran Dolly followed by four little balls of fur. The little boy's eyes danced with delight.

Then out from the doghouse peeked another little ball; this one noticeably smaller. Down the ramp it slid and began hobbling in an unrewarded attempt to catch up with the others. The pup was clearly the runt of the litter.

The little boy pressed his face to the fence and cried out, "I want that one," pointing to the runt.

The farmer knelt down and said, "Son, you don't want that puppy. He will never be able to run and play with you the way you would like."

With that the boy reached down and slowly pulled up one leg of his trousers. In doing so he revealed a steel brace running down both sides of his leg attaching itself to a specially made shoe. Looking up at the farmer, he said, "You see, sir, I don't run too well myself, and he will need someone who understands.
