Miss Ciella.....

A pic I took of her at Christmas when she was in kennel
So some very good news.....lovely Ciella was adopted on Sunday. Ciella was one of our favorites to take to shows, she loved everyone and was ok with smaller dogs. She would be with us all day and just be perfect.
Ciella at Tractor Supply
At Reliant this year

Her new family lost their dog a couple of weeks ago, she had a seizure and died in her sleep. That dog had come from Husky Haven and they wanted a new companion. She was pretty much their first choice, and I couldn't be happier. Well she won't be going to anymore shows with us......but I sure am happy she has a wonderful new home. Love you girl, have a great time!!!!

Some more thoughts and pics from Reliant.....

My friends will tell you that I really don't like doing shows. They take a lot of work , and in the case of Reliant , many days. But that being said , these are the events we get exposure for the dogs. I put on my smiling face and spend as much time as I can with as many customers as I can. I will keep working shows till we get homes for all our babies!!!
So just my short rant....I'll still be at any event, the kids need their forever homes!!!
Wanted to share a few pics I took when I had a chance to check out some other rescues. I always like to give some space on my blog for all the other rescues doing  good work for their babies.
This is Sadie from HOPE. I actually had a picture of her from Rides and Rescues....she is still looking for her forever home!!!
This sweetheart is from Big Dogs Huge Paws. He just laid there and everyone was coming over to give him love....he enjoyed every minute of it!!!
These guys are from Golden Beginnings. They were also hanging out for petting sessions all day!!!
If a Husky is not your cup of tea please go to the rescues I have linked to all year and find yourself a wonderful companion!!! But really think Husky first!!!
One last picture. We walked out  of Reliant through an area we usually don't , the show dog area. This is what it looks like when everyone vacates.....glad I don't have to clean up!!!
Have a wonderful evening....

Tractor Supply.....

I can't believe it's been two weeks since I wrote something....being super busy and a bout of writers block , both on my blog and the book I'm writing was daunting. I just blanked out the last two weeks , didn't have one creative thought....but let's move on and see what's been happening!!!
Saturday we had an event at Tractor Supply....we have three or four of them there during the year. This was their annual event all over the US. Probably in the north the day was nice, but in Houston it was about 95 degrees with a heat index of 105. Luckily the show is only four hours, any longer and the girls would have been melting! It is another free opportunity to get our dogs some exposure, so it's good for them. We took two dogs, Ciella, who's now a seasoned veteran of the shows, and Captain Jack, he's not been to one. Everyone had a good time, and Jack got a lot of attention from one family....we hope that will turn into an adoption for him!!

Our booth looked really good!!! But it always does!!!
Ciella checking out the horse rescue!!!!

I want to thank Cyndii for bring our tent and all the rest of our stuff, Donna for picking up Ciella and Denise for bringing her foster, Captain Jack. I didn't make it , was working with some other rescue dogs that day.
Thanks again girls!!!
Seriously, my writers block is over......now you'll probably get sick of me......
Have a wonderful evening........

RIP, Miss Marta

One of our senior girls, Marta , died in her sleep yesterday. Marta was a foster at our directors, as with all rescue it's hard to get the older dogs adopted. She hadn't been sick, just arthritis and old age. She was kind of a grumpy girl at times, but this year she seemed to really like people petting her. It's been so hot that our director had let her hang in the house all afternoons, just relaxing and enjoying the cool. I'm glad she got these last few months of personal attention, I just wish we could have found a place for her permanently. I'm glad she didn't suffer, or have any long illness.

We will remember you with fondness, sweet girl....have a wonderful time at the Rainbow Bridge..........

Pretty Penny and Einstein....

So with the shows and trying to plan new events, I forgot to post about a couple of adoptions in the last few weeks. So first will be Einstein. He came to us from animal control, of course, but was super sweet and so well trained. We had a show the week he came in and the girl who picked him up asked what his name was. We didn't have one so I said to call him Pi and we'd figure something out later. (We already have a Pi, so that name wouldn't fly!!!!) At the show one of the vendors noted he was so intelligent we should name him Einstein, and the name stuck. He had already had an application on him for foster from one of our previous adopters and they decided when they met him to adopt instead.

I wish I had some better pics of him....but he's a stunning boy!!!! He is now hanging around with other Huskies in his new forever home!!!!
Penny was just a puppy when she got to us.....well, she still is. She was picked up by the SPCA in not the best of shape. Or at least she didn't look great when we got her. She had a bad case of mange on her face, but luckily she wasn't ill like many of the puppies we see.
We knew with some loving care and some proper nutrition, we could help her. It always upsets me when people just leave animals like this. Well we worked our magic, and that's what I feel it is sometimes, and soon she was looking great!! One of our volunteers saw her, knew his wife had been looking for a puppy in rescue, and they adopted her. I know she has a fantastic life.....just look at her now.

She has a new life and a new buddy to hang with. Thanks Jim and Jane for helping her out!!!!
More Reliant pics coming up.....and a ton more stuff.
Have a wonderful evening!!!
