Vintage Park.....Part Two...

So we had an opportunity to go to Vintage park again this last Sunday with our friends In the name of Zoey Rescue. I was down one Husky from the week before....but I had two coming, that was okay. At the last minute my other volunteer had to cancel for work, so I started looking around to see who I could bring. All the dogs at our directors were blowing coat really badly so I decided to call some of our local fosters to see if anyone could get another dog there. I figured the first one to call back would be the one. My friend Jim called and said he'd bring Kaylyn. Kaylyn had been with him for about a month and a half and I figured she was probably looking pretty good by now. To refresh your memory....here's what she looked like late last year.....skinny and sick....

Here she was the night Jim picked her up......
Here's what she looked like on Sunday......

Giving Wayne a kiss....I think
She is so pretty now and finally filling out....it was so wonderful to see her looking so great!!!! As we were walking to show her off Jim said he was doing this a courtesy to me.....he was planning to adopt her this week!!! Another failed foster!!! She will have a wonderful home with him and his wife and their other two Huskies. Wishing that little girl the very best!!!!
I also want to say thanks to Angelica and Jorge from In the Name of Zoey for bringing Ulla and Harvey out again.
Have a wonderful evening.....if you're in Houston, stay dry......

Two for one......

Been a super busy week.....haven't been catching up with my blog like I should. We had two events this last week and you get both today!!
Last Sunday we had a small event at a Natural Pawz. We were there with another rescuer and her group, In the Name of Zoey. We had a great time and the weather was great.....not a lot of traffic, but hopefully at least one dog will get a new home. It's better with pics.....
Wayne having a terrible time!!!!!

Sweet baby Gunter.

Ulla and Harvey from In the Name of Zoey

Wayne and Silver....a major bromance!!!

Silver and Wayne...

Wayne taking a rest.

Ulla and Miley

Harvey steals the show!!!

Gunter...he wouldn't let me get a better pic of him, always turning his head!!!!

Miley and Ulla....
On Friday a couple of the girls went to Pearland Jr High and took their dogs with them. We do an event every year with the malamute group and talk about the differences and similarities of Mals and Huskies. The best part is when they get to spend time being loved on by the students. Becky brought Gunter.....he had double duty this week, and Denise brought Iniki. You can't tell from the pics but Iniki is a tripod. She has no issue with that!!!!!
Gunter waiting for the next pet!!!

Iniki coming in for hers

What a life....

really!!!!

Gunter taking a break....
I appreciate all the hard working volunteers that take their time to man these events......you are the best!!!!!
I have a ton of stories....
Will be back soon....hopefully tomorrow...
Have a wonderful afternoon!!!!

Thanks.....

I had a another blog post ready for tonight.....but I have to say thanks to my friends instead. We were at rescue yesterday taking care of the dogs and had an impromptu celebration for my birthday later this week. I have to start the story by saying that I had gotten on to FB early yesterday and saw that my friend Cyndii had made some beautiful cupcakes for an event. I was thinking that someone was sure lucky to get those cupcakes and then I noticed that one of them had my dogs name on it......they were for me!!!! Check out how stunning they are.....

I don't know if you can see it well, but the dog on the right is bi-eyed...just like my TJ!!!!
We almost didn't want to eat them, they are such works of art!!!! Becky brought a chocolate cake and red velvet cake balls and we all got an afternoon sugar high!!! All of the sweets were gluten free also....really appreciated that!!!
That's me getting ready to bite Lizzy's head off....of course I couldn't!!!!

So our director gave me a really great b-day present....she announced that I'm now VP of Husky Haven.....something I have wanted to do for a long time. It will be more work....but I'm up to the task!!! Thanks Cyndii for the beautiful cupcakes and Becky for the cake and all of my friends that were there yesterday....you know how to make a girl feel special!!!!
Have a wonderful afternoon!!!!

I'm back........

So last Monday I was going to send a nice note to all of you who had commented on my BLD story. When I hit reply...well my computer just went to any website it wanted to. I had my son take a look and he confirmed that it had crashed. Luckily for me (not for him) he knows how to fix these things....so I'm now back up and running. You don't really realize how much you depend on this thing!!!!
I wanted to update on some adoptions and fosters.....now I can. Let's start with our newest adoption, Laylita. She was picked by a wonderful family...it was the only dog they wanted to see!!! They brought over their dog, Montana, for a meet and greet and Laylita had a wonderful time chasing him around!!She's a pretty active girl, but they're an active family so it should be great for her. I got only one pic.......
Laylita was ready to go!!! We wish her the best time in her new home!!!
Pi is a dog I've talked about before....he had a foster home and they decided if he wasn't adopted by the end of last year they would keep him.....and they did.
So this sweet boy also has a loving family!!!! Then they decided to foster a dog until our director is back on her feet from her knee surgery. They decided on Sapphire, a really pretty black and white blue eyed girl. They are working with her to teach her commands, she will be an adoptable girl with good manners.
A lot more stories to come.....but gotta finish cleaning the house so I can sit down and watch the Superbowl later.....go Seahawks!!!
Have a great Superbowl Sunday.....
