Calypso.......

Just wanted to tell you about Calypso!! He was at one of the shelters here in town and was going to be released.....didn't know that meant put down....but hey. I felt so bad for him I offered to foster. Some guy offered to drive him from the shelter to our place so we could vet him, fell in love and offered to foster himself!!!  You gotta love that!! He was in pretty bad shape....
That's my hand on top of him.....he's a tall guy and only weighed 34 pounds!!!! He has mange, sores and is heartworm positive, of course. We took him and got him neutered , started him on antibiotics and heartworm meds. Then we started getting him to eat....he really needs to gain some weight.

A week later his new foster showed up to take him home....here he is on the ride home!!!
His new foster is willing to give him his meds and whatever it takes to get him well and happy again.....I hope the next time I post about him he is looking good and a being shown off at events!!! Thank you Kalen for helping our boy.

Have a wonderful Friday!!!!!!!

  3. Update:He stayed with me for a week eating three times a day and gained 5 lbs from the time Kalen brought him to me and the day he was at the Vet for neutering. 33 lbs to 38 lbs at the Vets. He is such a sweet boy. Hard to believe someone would let him get in such bad shape. His skin scraping tested neg for mange but the Vet treated him for Sarcoptic anyway because you can not always get a mite in the scraping. Most of his hair loss was due to malnutrition tho. --Pat

  7. That is great progress since May 10 when we bathed him for the first time! He must have been in pain, but he was so docile and I think glad to have loving attention from healers like you.

  8. Poor guy! At first it looked like your hand was on the leg of a really large dog, not the back of a really skinny one. Glad you were all able to help!
