Happy New Year!!!!

So I asked the dogs tonight if they would be willing to put on some new outfits for New Years and I got a resounding , NO!!! I understand since they did that for me just a week ago they wouldn't want to do it again, so I'm ok. I'll show you a few pics of my house as we have it at Christmas....I really don't care about getting many presents as long as I have lights and a pretty tree.....(I took many of these manually , so excuse the blur, don't have a tripod anymore)

My fireplace and tree...we are obsessed with blue lights.....
I put a ton of Christmas stuffed animals on all my windowsills....I love them....
The only place I have white lights....Mr. Snowman doesn't care...
On the mantle of my fireplace...one of the favorite gifts from my son......
I wish all of you a wonderful 2014...I hope to help many more animals this next year, I hope you get to do what you love too....
Happy New Year all.....

Christmas Kids.....

I hope all of you had a great Christmas....I had a good one myself. Christmas Eve my brothers family just bailed on us , so my son and I got take out food from Pappadeaux , no fuss , no muss....cleanup in the recycle bin. Christmas dinner I spent with my great friend Julia and her family....she made a wonderful meal and I had a wonderful time....love you sweetie!!! But the kids had to have their pics taken......they hate me at Christmas!!!!

As you can see they are all thrilled....sorry guys, only once a year. In Lizzy's case that was a pic from a year or so ago...she wouldn't let me put anything around her neck this year!!! I want to thank all of you that have been so supportive of Tank. He's doing better than I ever expected. I hope to be back before the new year, but I wish you the best holiday season. Be careful and take care of yourself!!!!
Have a wonderful evening..............

Tank again!!!!

So I brought Tank home Tuesday and he seemed to be ok. He ate his dinner and also seemed fine on Wednesday. Thursday was very different.....he wouldn't eat and he has to in order to get all his pills down without getting sick. He was basically frantic all morning , I was scared enough to call the vet that worked on him and ask what I should do. I had already tried a ton of different foods, and believe me Tank loves to eat, so they suggested I bring him in. Wasn't too happy with that idea, it's not that far, but tons of traffic all day. But we made the trip. One funny thing, Tank was standing in the seat next to me looking out the window, and a woman drives next to us and said he was the cutest thing she'd ever seen!!! I think so too!! Luckily they took us in immediately, diagnosis....he had nausea. I've had enough surgeries to know that and wondered why they hadn't send some anti-nausea meds along with me. Oh, they just don't.....not all dogs need them. After a shot, some more new meds and another big bill we were on our way. Have to say he has been great since then, but wow. And we have to go back again Monday!!!! He is feeling better and we'll find out what the doc says then. Keep sending good thoughts....we need them!!!!

Tank relaxing this morning!!

His new plastic bag accessory to keep his bandage clean!!! He hates it!!!
Have a nice evening everyone.......

Tank Update....

So yesterday I took Tank to the surgeon that worked on BLD and Murray. She spent a lot of time with me and then asked if I wanted to do the surgery that day.....I wasn't really prepared....but he needed to have it done. Basically they reattach his kneecap where it's supposed to be....not on the side of his knee where it was. There is a pin there to keep it placed in the right area. I called this morning and they said he was doing well. When I went to pick him up he was walking fine....but that was the drugs talking. He has his left rear leg wrapped... in camo...would have liked something Christmassy but oh well. We got home okay, but then began the real problems. My two Huskies just sniffed at him, but my boxer/pit foster wanted to jump on him. Now it's a game of Faith in her crate while I take him out and I don't know what's going to happen tonight. I'll sleep on the floor next to him if I have to. Wish me luck....anyone have room for a boxer/pit mix for a week???? Keep me in your thoughts , I'm going to need them!!!

Update....

So I wanted to give you an update on my Tanky boy. He was sedated and had his x-rays yesterday. What they thought might be a node on his leg was actually his kneecap. It is completely out of alignment.....and kind of over to the side. Hence the reason for all his pain. Luckily no ACL tear....but I'm afraid if he doesn't have surgery soon to correct it that might happen too. We are looking to schedule his surgery, kind of pricey....about 1500.00, but if he feels better than it will all be worth it. The biggest problem right now is finding a doc that can get the surgery scheduled. The surgeon that comes to my vet probably won't be available till January, so I'm taking him to see the vet that took care of Murray and BLD. We'll see how it all pans out. For now he's on Rimadyl , it really takes the edge off the pain....but I don't want him on that forever. Thanks to all of you for your kind words......

Tank....

I know I don't do personal stuff on my blog....but tonight is different. My Tank has to go and be sedated tomorrow.....he's been in a lot of pain...we will find out how he is in the evening. I'm very upset right now....could be cancer or hopefully just an ACL problem. I don't pray... but please wish good thoughts for my boy tomorrow...Thanks...

Good Days...Bad Days

So I was going to write about how happy I was that not only Kalyn , but Wayne also went to foster last week....but they both came back the Friday after Thanksgiving. Wayne is a big boy, and I don't think they could really handle him.....he is really sweet though....don't think they really need a big dog. Kalyn had some problems....found out the full magnitude of those today, but I can't put that on my blog.....I want our director to fill everyone in. Suffice to say she's ok.....just a long way to go. I think that soon her fosters will get her again.
So that being said, some good news. Yesterday I went to the rescue to help a couple pick out their new dog. They just wanted someone sweet.....so they adopted our sweet girl Saskia. She has been at rescue for awhile.....been fostered before. So glad to see her go to a good home.....
Saskia with Linda and Mack!!!
I wish all of you a great Christmas season.....have a couple of things I will share with you soon......take care
Have a wonderful evening!!!

My beautiful Lizzy.......

My lazy fellow TJ....

Tank...my marvelous mutt.....

And my foster girl, Faith.....

I was going to make them wear hats for a Thanksgiving theme....but we'll save that indignity for Christmas pictures.....they can hardly wait!!!
Have a great day everyone!!!!

Tuesday....

OMG....it's so cold here. All you guys in the north will say I'm a wimp....and you're right!! I live in Houston cause of the warm weather....when it's 38, 30 mile an hour winds and raining I'm pretty unhappy!! Because of the weather I've been pretty busy helping as many dogs as I can. But let's get into some good stuff....
So....our girl Kalyn has a foster. She is the one that is so skinny and turned out to have mange, but she has a foster that will take care of her......
They will hopefully nurse her back to health and we can get her a great forever home!!! I know she had a few people out of state willing to foster but I know our director wanted her to stay close in case there were problems.
We had someone take a pup with parvo.....sometimes a death sentence...they got him a new foster home also....
I wish the best...he's still not out of the woods.....
I have a few things to say since it's the holiday season. Please , while you are spending Thanksgiving with your loved ones , please think about the animals out there that have no one to care for them. Just a day , a few minutes make all the difference. Go to your local shelter or rescue and help. The animals need you!!!
One last thing....I give thanks for Pat and all Husky Haven volunteers, Becky, who not only took me on the greatest vacation but helps with so many rescues, Angelica....I was her petsitter and she and I have helped with so many dogs, who knew......and Greg, my best friend, we worked with dogs at the same kennel for two years and never met.......he has done so much. Remember this is the season for giving.....
Have a wonderful evening......

Some things for a Sunday....

So before I have to start packaging stuff for my EBay sales (a bunch of the money goes to rescue) I thought I'd catch up on a few things!!
First, beautiful boy Elfie went to a foster family!!! He had been adopted at the beginning of the year and was brought back....I guess the guy just traveled too much....and I'll leave it at that. He was not happy about being back at the rescue....but I think he's happy now being with a new family.
I hope he has a great time and who knows!!
Here's a picture I took of Iniki a couple of weeks back....

Our little three legged girl looks so much better than she did back in March.....
Denise and Ron have been taking great care of her!!
This pretty girl was rescued from Animal Control a few days ago....
Beautiful , isn't she!! Well until you see the rest.
Her back haunches have no fur on them , just bone protruding....
She is also still lactating....we can't even have her spay/neutered until she drys up. Tomorrow we'll test for heartworm...with our luck she'll probably be positive!!! And she only weighs about 25 pounds....I can pick her up with one arm. She has a way to go before she will be ready to find a family.
You know we got 9 puppies back at the beginning of May, mom was part Siberian....but puppies look all lab. We've gotten two adopted (that will be one of my next stories) but we are having a hard time getting them adopted. Our director has two at her house, Friday I decided to take some new pictures. I called them to me , told them I was going to take their pictures and they stood and looked right at me.....no Husky I know would do that!!!!

Brady

Killeen
They are both really sweet, house and crate trained.....if you know anyone that loves lab puppies go to our website Husky Haven and take a look.
One last pic for today. Precious Lottie having a nap with her tongue sticking out.....
Have a great Sunday everyone......

Happy Veterans Day.....

I have three stories today.  Number one is my Dad. My Dad went into the navy at 17 during WWII. His parents were dirt poor farmer immigrants in North Dakota. They came from Germany with no education and my Dad wanted more. He enlisted in the Navy during the war and spent his time in the Pacific. I have many stories he has written to me .....but not for today. His one goal was the GI Bill to get him his dream of a pH D.When he came back from the war his parents had moved to Washington, there he met my Mom and fell in love.He got his Bachelors from Washington State and moved to Chicago for his Masters. After that he married my Mom and moved to Southern California to get his pHD at UCLA. I know that if he didn't do all those things ...I might not have been around. I love you......87 years and all!!!
Me and my Dad
So another story....last week we had a great application from a guy that had just come back from Iraq. He had moved back in with his parents....when he was gone he lost his beloved German Shepard. He wanted a dog....maybe to help him through this pain. He had seen some of our Huskies on the website and had decided on a few. When he came over yesterday....the dog he really wanted had bad skin issues, so our director showed him a couple of others. Romo came out and they fell in love......you always know when the dog is right for you!!! He came in a truck with his parents and wanted to ride in the back with Romo, but that's illegal so he dropped off his parents and came back to get HIS DOG...seriously in caps...so excited. I think Romo will have the best home.....his new owner is already scheduling him for classes.

Love you mister!!!
Last is my nephew Everett. He also went in the Navy so he could be in the medical field. He  knew that he wouldn't have the funds to help him through so he enlisted.  I think he and his wife will be in the military till they retire.....at a very young age. I want to say how proud I am of you and your wife....love you both.
So Happy Veterans Day.....remember our troops.....
See you next time..........

Some updates and a foster......

I hope everyone is having a good week.....this morning it was in the forties after being in the high 80's the last few days.....schizophrenic weather indeed!!!  I kind of like it somewhere in the middle, but I digress....
I wanted to show a few pics I have as well as a video........I hope the video works , it's adorable!! Laz was adopted last year, he was a big white Husky.....and I never knew he was so vocal!!! He is obviously having a great time at his new home...really ruling the roost!!! We love you boy!!!
Here is a picture of Miss Sassy cleaning up after herself!!!
I'm a bit late adding this one ,it's from late September...but it's still really cute.
Here is Rudi with his sister Martina. Rudi (the red and white )  was my foster, wow, almost two years ago!!! He was a wonderful boy. He had been hit by a car and left in a school parking lot when we rescued him. It took him a while to get adjusted, but I'd like to think that my dogs and I helped with that process. Martina was also from Husky Haven.

Those two get along so well!!!
Our beautiful Carlene went to a foster home this week. I'm so happy she has a new place to stay!!!

I know she's in her Halloween outfit....but I wasn't there to get a pic the day she was picked up. She is a really great girl and loves her crate!!!
I'll wrap this up....more news soon.
Have a great evening!!!!
